60-75 minute workshop

CLIMATE CHANGE, ADAPTATION AND MITIGATION: BUILDING RESILIENT CITIES

In this session, students will learn about the science of climate change, its impact on communities and the health and well-being of people in these communities. Using the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), students will participate in a 60 minute challenge to design climate adaptation and mitigation solutions with a focus on building resilient and green cities. Students will be encouraged to explore ecosystem and resource protection, city design, urban garden/vertical farming, walkable communities, renewable energy, biophilic design, health management, equity and justice, as well as explore partnerships with other NGOs empowering youth and women in this space.

THE CLIMATE CENTURY: EXPLORING CAREER OPPORTUNITIES, SCHOOLS AND PROGRAMS

College Students

In this session, students will chart out their post secondary education path to incorporate opportunities for global citizenship and climate action. Students will begin by exploring career opportunities presenting themselves across the SDGs. Students will then assess in detail post secondary programs, professors, courses, co-op, research, international placements offered by various institutions, that can enable for the development of global competencies (the soft skills) and participation in solution development (across the sustainable development goals with a particular focus on climate action).

BUILDING MY PORTFOLIO FOR CLIMATE ACTION

College Campus

In this session, students will explore how to build their portfolios in preparation for post secondary school applications/supplementary applications. Students will evaluate the extracurricular activities, competitions, global citizenship and climate action opportunities, internships, and research opportunities available to them in their high schools, communities, at post secondary schools and through global student focused organizations.
