Institutional Analysis and Development (IAD) 
 

This project includes the development of a typology of the biotech commons and the mapping of Ostrom's IAD framework to the commons.

The IAD project will closely look at:

a. A Value Chain Perspective-Evolving State of Biotech Commons and Its Components;

b. Knowledge Assets and Structures in the Biotech Commons;

c. Participant Types; Participation Rules;

d. Drivers for Participation;

e. Degrees of Openness-Targets of Openness;

f. Governance Strategies-Knowledge Production and Knowledge Dissemination; IP Management; Guiding Policies;

g. Supporting Infrastructure-Knowledge Production and Dissemination;

h. Measuring Outcomes-Benefits, Participation-Number/Degree, Deposits, Withdrawals and Downstream Impact; Costs and Risks.
